QNP Community Walks Photography Competition

QNP Community Walks Photography Competition

The winners of the QNP "Community Walks" Photography Competition at the end of June were as follows:

    • The Rural Environment: Andy Small with 31 votes (view looking south from top of footpath off Woodlands Lane).
    • The Built Environment: Andy Small with 50 votes (view looking down Church Road)
    • Nature and Wildlife: Ros Grum with 42 vote (the mouse)

So the overall winner was Andy's Built Environment photo.

Kedleston Road development: High Court turns down planning appeal decision

The Hon. Ms Justice Lang has quashed the decision made by the Planning Inspectorate to grant planning permission for 400 houses on the heritage land adjacent to Kedleston Road, Allestree, Derby.

Recycling centre charges removed in Derbyshire

Charges were introduced on Monday 3 April 2017 to help pay Derbyshire's £37.2m annual waste bill.

Residents were required to pay £3 per standard rubble sack to take soil, bricks, rubble and ceramics such as bathroom furniture and tiles to the centres.

The fees were withdrawn from Saturday, 6 May 2017 following the county elections and a change of administration on Friday, 5 May 2017.
