Seed Exchange at the Repair Cafe

Community Engagement on Improvements to Curzon School
On Monday 23rd January from 4pm until 6:30pm everyone is invited to visit the school to look at the plans we have in place. These include replacing 2 classrooms with 2 new classrooms and improving the school hall. You are welcome to drop in at any time during this evening.

Mobile Library route
No books you fancy in the telephone box book exchange?
Then residents may be interested in the attached list of Mobile Library routes. Sadly the Mobile Library doesn't visit Quarndon, but it can be found in neighbouring villages like Little Eaton and Breadsall.
Keep visiting the telephone box, though: new books appear almost every day!

New Parish Clerk Sarah Strachan
Sarah has joined Quarndon Parish Council as the Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer. She brings with her a wealth of finance experience gained from 15 years in her professional career across a number of industries and countries. She is a fully qualified accountant and holds a Masters with a University in Paris.

Temporary Road Closure - Church Road - 24/10 - 27/10
Severn Trent will be doing some works on Church road to renew some apparatus on Church Road between Barn Close and Fields Farm between the 24th October at 08:00 and the 27th October 17:00. Road closure details
Emergency Access will be maintained only, so please be mindful of this road closure during this period.

Burning of commercial waste on Somme Road
Over the last few days there has been a bonfire on Somme Road which appears to be burning commercial waste. This has resulted in thick smoke and ashes covering the area and causing a significant nuisance. Amber Valley Borough Council (AVBC) are aware of the incident and are dealing with it. Please note the point below about keeping a 'smoke diary'.

Quarndon has won the ‘Best Entrance’ competition in the 'East Midlands in Bloom'
Quarndon in Bloom - Unexpected but Excellent News.
Quarndon has won the 'Best Entrance' competition this year. This is an award East Midlands in Bloom run every year, using things the judges have spotted whilst out and about, and which have specifically NOT entered East Midlands in Bloom.
Picture shows display at Park Nook. Quarndon will be receiving a certificate for this year's award.
